Freddie Hunt, James Hunt’s 19-year-old son, will make his motor racing debut in the British Formula Ford Championship at Donington Park. Freddie signed a deal with top Formula Ford team Joe Tandy Racing and will roll on its new Ray GRS07 wheels alongside his new team-mate Nick Tandy. He has started this season as one of the chosen favorites.

Freddie’s pretty excited and very pleased to have signed with JTR. He’s actually “very comfortable in the Ray chassis”.

“Yesterday was my first experience of Donington Park, and though it’s a hard track I am getting more to grips with it and I’m hopeful I can put up a good show at the weekend.” Freddie Hunt added. He has signed deals with several partners to get on the track. These include in-car deodorizer Neutradol, motorsport law firm Grid Law, online mobile back-up specialist Mobyko.com and Bell Helmets Europe, who supplied safety helmets to both James Hunt and his brother, David. Joe Tandy Racing moved into British Formula Ford towards the end of last season with Joe’s younger brother, Nick, leading the driving strength. Wins and podium finishes soon followed and Nick Tandy claimed championship runner-up position.

Team principal Joe Tandy, himself the 2005 Formula Palmer Audi Champion, believes Hunt has the flair to be a frontrunner: “We are all very excited to be involved with Freddie and very pleased that he has decided to make his Formula Ford debut with JTR. Obviously there will be a lot of eyes on him at Donington and it will be our job to ensure that he doesn’t feel the pressure too much.

Mike Norton, UK Motorsport Manager for Ford TeamRS, claimed, “Formula Ford is the best breeding ground for Formula 1 stars of the future – half of this year’s Grand Prix grid started with us – and I am sure that Freddie will learn an enormous amount with us, as of course did his father.”

Freddie sure has a natural talent and an endearing attitude. We’ll be seeing him at the sharp end of things once he has gained experience.

After 77 long years of being the number one best selling car maker, this is the first time that General Motors had to stoop down from his grandiose level and give way for a Japanese auto maker to be on top. Yes, I am referring to the new number one best selling car brand Toyota Motor Corporation.  

The title was gained during the first quarter of this year where GM lost an enormous 100,000 units of vehicles as compared to Toyota’s 2.35 million cars sold over GM’s 2.25 million. Do you think it’s the end of GM’s reign in the industry?  

Maybe not. But the domestic car maker has already anticipated the loss after the release of the 2006 sales when Toyota got a 12% increase from its sales in 2005. Now, Toyota is gaining more from its share in the US car market leaving both GM and Ford behind.  

General Motors is now expanding its horizons to areas like Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, the Middle East, Asia and not to mention China, which is currently its biggest target. Well, in fairness to GM, Buick and other car models of GM received a warm welcome from the China car market but we all know that China is one among the areas where Toyota is also known, I mean “very famous”.  

So there is no doubt that GM will soon find itself at the bottom of Toyota, maybe for a longer period of time. But I know GM will be doing its best to be on the top once more. Although Toyota has the biggest bragging right, they remain to be calm about their latest achievement. They are more focus on developing quality cars other for their followers other than focusing much on fame like being the number one. I got my head down for Toyota for this matter.

Dieter Zetsche, the chief executive of DaimlerChrysler, has testified that it would be hard to break up Chrysler. From the up to date weeks, speculations from analysts and other outside professionals speak that it is because of its system of incorporated production that connects its different brands as one. In a conducted interview at the Geneva Motor Show, Zetsche said that Chrysler is very much incorporated. “The technical lines like plat forms do not go along the same lines as brands. The less they are aligned with brands, the more difficult it would be to think of any separation,” Zetsche stated for the record and for clarity.  

He was creating a deep examination with no given comments on the alternatives concerning on how DaimlerChrysler might be capable in promoting the Chrysler unit and it was definite that for the past three weeks, the prospect was taking into deliberation. The Chrysler group applied and designed the Jeep with sophistication and refined the off-road open-air concept vehicle by giving a fresh appearance and uniqueness to the style of the Jeep Trailhawk.

Patterned from the platform of a Jeep Wrangler, the Trailhawk possesses all the legendary off-road performance capabilities incorporated with refinement in style as highway cruiser.

Nick Vardis, principal exterior designer stated that “the key to the look of the Trailhawk is the vehicle’s distinctive proportions due in part to its 116-inch wheelbase; the dash-to-front-axle dimension is dramatically long”. Giving the vehicle a sense of forward motion, while the front and the rear overhangs are tight and abbreviated, Vardis added.

They’ve viewed the mat surface of the grille and headlamps together in the computer. And it turns out that the expression portrayed is a hawk, so it was named as the Trailhawk. The tail lamps also resemble the headlamps and also the striped turn signals with a surface of a liftgate carved away. The Jeep Trailhawk concept’s interior emphasizes an open air free will that attracts exterior themes to go through the interior. Cliff Wilkins, the person who is responsible for the interior design, said, “Though mechanical elements which evoke exterior details are contrasted with sophisticated materials and finishes to give a modern, rugged, purposeful interior while delivering a premium off-road experience.”

Like most of all 4x4 Jeeps, from their macho exterior to the finest interior designs, the Trailhawk sure makes one aware about the word “power”, the ability to trek and withstand all terrains and tough outdoor trails. The cold air intake helps the Trailhawk Jeep in all variety of travels, whether it’s for the off-road or just a simple highway drive. Ford has remained dedicated to providing a whole gamut of innovative products for its customers. It’s no doubt that they’re raking in big loads this year due to their efforts in targeting more buyers for their brand on which Ford’s new mid-size cars (Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ) and its new crossovers (Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX) set monthly sales records last March.

Ford’s overall sales totaled 264,975, down 9 percent compared with March 2006 (which was the highest monthly sales in 2006). “Ford is moving quickly to operate profitably at lower volumes and a changed mix and we are encouraged our retail market share appears to be stabilizing over the past several months,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s President of the Americas. “Our newest products also are achieving the sales targets we have set for ourselves another sign that we’re making good progress.”

Sales in progress:
• Fusion sales were 15,790 (any-month record), up 48 percent compared with a year ago, and eclipsed the previous record of 15,468 set August 2006.
• Milan sales were up 45 percent - 4,678 (any-month record), up 45 percent, and bettered the previous record of 4,156 set August 2006. • Lincoln MKZ sales up 13 percent which is the second highest any-month.
• Ford Edge sales were 10,915 up 37 percent compared with February and Lincoln MKX sales were 3,054, up 32 percent compared with February.
• Ford, Mercury and Lincoln crossover sales in March landed to 37,915 up to 42 percent compared a year ago.
• Crossover sales in the first quarter of 2007 totaled to 89,081 up to 29 percent compared with the first quarter of 2006.
• Ford’s F-Series pickup truck posted March sales of 71,481 – the highest monthly sales since August 2006. Compared with March 2006, which was F-Series’ highest sales month of 2006, sales were down by 15 percent.

Of course, Ford will be unveiling a brand new full-size crossover at the upcoming 2007 New York Auto Show along with new innovative accessories and high-peak performance parts.

The 2008 New York Auto Show is a promising venue for all the best cars in the world. Everybody’s getting ready for next week for the big show will open just few days away from now. One of the cars that I’m waiting to show up is the 2008 Cadillac STS. I bet most of you are fans of this gorgeous car just like me.  

I never doubted the company if they can possibly come up with the best model to represent the Cadillac brand this year.     

All these excitement has left me craving for more details about the Cadillac STS, so I did seek for more possible information that will give me a clearer picture of the real character that this vehicle has. I found out that it was rumored to carry a V-12 engine when the car’s comeback falls this April. But insiders were wrong about this, but its okay.  

A revised grille and fender-mounted vents have been added up to the STS sedan. It is much alike the Escalade and the 2008 CTS when it comes to design elements. The STS expresses an American look with big, chrome Cadillac parts. It also includes newly designed wheels, a fascia body color that dominates the restyled exterior and lower rocker moldings.  

Now I am getting more and more determined to really do the waiting for this car. It has a lot to offer according from the other details that I got from the net.  

At this very moment, my body wants to fly over to New York and watch the auto show this weekend. If I get lucky, I’ll be the first one to hug our favorite sedan. The 2008 Cadillac STS!
