I’m sure you have heard along the grapevine that Aston Martin has a new owner. David, Richards, CEO of Prodrive and Chairman of Aston Martin Racing and two Kuwait banks are investing a robust $925 million to take on a controlling stake of the company. But along the way, Ford will retain its bond to its former subsidiary by cashing on a non-controlled 15-percent.

The Vantage coupe offers a new and affordable entry point for Aston fans. At first glance for this sleek and classy car provides the impression of being a showstopper. Aston engineers and designers have done a great job in having the dramatic roofline of the coupe. They have created a convertible tap, effective at shutting out wind and road noise when raised. Oh yes, it only requires a mere 20 seconds to operate this feat.

Its exterior car parts has nose tapers which graze into the characteristically Aston grille jotting a small brand logo wedded to the hood above. The overall physical attributes has an elegance and muscular equilibrium. It also features slightly flared wheel wells, line darts across the side grills that’s tinged in chrome, doors, swinging scissor-like when opened and a faint spoiler capping the deck cover.

The roadster’s engine bay is powered with a V8 driving on 380 ponies and allotting a 302 pound-feet maximum torque. It gauges a 4.3-liter inlet camshaft timing which is crafted to emphasize both lower and higher revs. The all-alloy engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that’s a rear-mounted gearbox. As Vantage project manager David King elaborates, “to ensure a perfect 50-50 weight balance.” So you might as well ponder on its sheer weight distribution, much credit to the electronically-shifted version of the gearbox, hailed as Sportshift. Don’t hesitate to call it by its name.

Its speed tops at 175 mph rocketing from zero to 60 claims at 4.9 seconds. If you’re into the whole fast-paced gamut, shift its speedometer needle for a more roadster blast off. Besides, this coupe has a certain advantage tucked in its engine nook and cranny: the longer you drive it, the more you want to push its limits. Talk about a vehicle’s self-confidence running amok.

The Vantage coupe also comes in an independent double-aluminum wishbone up front and the same outline in the back. Don’t be confused though, since there are monotube shocks and anti-roll bars and anti-drive technology keeping it in tip-top shape during a full-out acceleration and panic braking. Aston guarantees even and straight road handling by providing 15-percent stiffer springs.

Just how much is up for Aston remains to be seen and conceived. But Prodrive is certainly doing a nice job of it.

I have seen a lot of luxury cars pass by and cruise through the years and I haven’t thought of its difference from any type of cars that I’m familiar with. What do luxury cars provide for the customers? What benefits can we get from them, and what advantages do we have when we have the chance to drive them? Questions that linger my mind for quite some time. And now, answers are given to me by the Ford FPV Force models - and they know the real meaning of a luxury car.  

It happened for the first time in this class and luxury high performance customers now have their choice of either a quad-cam Boss 290 V8 engine in the Force 8, or a high-tech intercooled F6 Turbo in-line-cylinder engine in the force 6. Oh man. Two great choices to choose from.

Imagine a car this cute and small, but deep inside his system lies a mean and powerful road machine! As strong as Mighty Mouse I believe. Size does not matter for this little Mini after all.  

For the past generations of the Mini, John Cooper Works’ package has gone through a very slow evolution. It started as new supercharger that comes with a smaller pulley, and some free-flowing exhaust parts and system.  

The sum of the parts also includes 37-hp bump to make the total amount of power an even 200. Eventually it was known to everyone that they were installed on the assembly line. For its last surprise, JCW created the Grand Prix kit, a limited-edition model that removed the back seat in favor of a strut-tower brace and boosted the horsepower to 215.  

When it revealed itself at Geneva auto show, although small and cute, it looked very tall and strong and its because the 2008 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works is one of the best cars that stands out!

A state in Colorado, the Eagle County, is getting 20 Toyota Prius hybrids as part of its car fleet. They are choosing the Pruis because according to its county director of communications, Justin Finestone, the hybrid is 50% more fuel-efficient compared to other hybrid cars plus they produce significantly fewer emissions.  

Matched up to other hybrids, the Toyota Prius can run on an average 50 mpg while other brands average 18 mpg. The fuel savings to the county is estimated at more than $21,000 a year. The Prius is also unbeatable when it comes to initial acceleration as the low speed Prius is powered solely by the high torque electric motor. Both the electric motor and engine gasoline is running the Toyota Prius thus making the vehicle achieve a lesser fuel consumption.  

The gas engine shuts off during a slow drive and the electric motor functions which actually converts momentum to electricity then stores it into the battery. It also lessens down emissions and conserves fuel when the vehicle is on a stop mode.  

The Prius does not only soar why in terms of fuel efficiency - it also proud to wear its company exclusive Toyota parts such as the Toyota fender and many more. Safety car parts such as standard air bags are also found on the hybrid car.  

The Eagle County is trying its best to conserve its natural environment which is why they choose hybrids over conventional cars. They also replace landscaping with xeriscaping, and facilitate recycling within the county and towns to restore the really glory of its natural resources.

Land Rover will showcase it full new product lineup at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The much-awaited 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 diesel automatic will be making its debut, using a six-speed automatic transmission as the 3.2-liter i6 petrol Freelander 2. The TD4 is powered by the all-new 160 PS 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine.

The Freelander 2 personalization program combines average fuel consumption of 33.2 mpg and as with all Land Rovers. The carbon dioxide generated by Land Rover’s manufacturing activities and UK customers’ vehicle use running about the first 45,000 miles has been balanced through an industry leading program counterbalance by Climate Care.

Land Rover parts such as its automatic transmission also features its CommandShift for manual handling and a sports mode for feistier road driving. For the individual and personal touches, Land Rover has also introduced an accessories program for the Freelander 2. “Land Rover has a long tradition of allowing customers to order vehicles to suit their needs but this new program allows the greatest degree of personalization ever offered to Freelander customers,” John Edwards, Land Rover UK managing director, said.

Its significant specs include modified 19-inch sports wheels, a sports styling pack, Audio Connectivity Module (ACM) for iPod/MP3 connectivity, Rear Seat Entertainment (rear screens and DVD player), body color mirror caps and sill strips, all these and more to be seen at the Geneva show.

You are maybe aware what the Chrysler brand is going through right now. Just recently, Volkswagen declined to buy the US part of the DaimlerChrysler group and was the last company to say no to it. And now, the DCX group is rumored to be collaborating with GM in making small cars.  

Last Tuesday, DaimlerChrysler announced that their US part Chrysler group is about to sign off a contract with Chery to supply vehicles in North America and in Western Europe. According to the agreement, the cars will all be released under the name and marque of the American domestic brand. There is no clear news whether Chery cars will be using the very same Chrysler parts on their cars.  

Chery will be producing new car models but the specific product and volumes were not announced yet. However, Chrysler signed a contract in December that they will be buying subcompact cars from Chery. These units would then be made available in the US market under their Dogde brand come the year 2009.  

Chrysler stated, “The partnership will allow the company to become a bigger player on the global automotive stage by giving it access to products in new segments more quickly, with less capital spending." Does this means the Chrysler is taking advantage of the low-cost manufacturing China?  

The partnership between the Chrysler Group and Chery depends if the Chinese government allows such a deal. But they are expecting to sign off the deal this March. But the China’s auto maker will still be working with the entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin to build vehicles for Visionary Vehicles LLC.  

Looks like China cars will soon be seen on the streets of America.
